Toronto Candlelight Vigil - November 22, 2003

The Candlelight Vigil in support of Michael Jackson hosted by CMJFC,
was a wonderful success. With 100+ people in attendance for the entire night, it really showed how much support a city can show for a man who
deserves it. It started at 5:00 pm, at Dundas Square, and ran through
until about 8:30 pm. The fans played music, sang songs, and always made
sure their candles had a flame. A few fans had brought posters, and
just about everyone had on their Michael attire.

The media was there for quite a portion of the time, taking pictures,
interviewing fans. They ranged from Global, to CTV, to just about every
Toronto media. CityPulse was one that stayed for the entire vigil.

Throughout the night, a poster that read:

"'Thriller'
A 'Dangerous' D.A.
who is 'Off the wall'
want's to see 'Blood On The Dance Floor'
But 'HIStory' shows:
Michael is not 'BAD'
Michael is 'INVINCIBLE'
Michael will always be 'Number Ones'"

was passed around and signed by everyone who participated. There was over
100 signatures counted at the end of the night.

We continue to support Michael through this tough time, and we stand
united as fans and as friends.

The Canadian MJ Fan Club held a party in Toronto on the weekend following August 29th to celebrate Michael’s 45th birthday.
The party was a roaring success. Everyone participated and seemed to have a wonderful time. We had a running game of Musical Chairs. In the end, Akofa beat everyone one out!! Next on the agenda was "Pin the Glasses on Michael". Daniel was the one who managed to do a fine job of getting them on his face!! Let me just state right here and now, that this was only a game, and everyone who participated all agreed that they all prefer to see Michael without his glasses.

As everyone arrived at the party they were asked to sign in, and to try their luck at guessing how may RED Skittles there were in this jar that was sitting on one of the tables. Somewhere half way through the party, the winner was revealed. Tricia guessed that there were 74 red Skittles. And she was correct!! We also had some great performances by some of our members. Magenta not only danced for us....but she also sang. Steve and Edina danced. Jessica and Lina sang for us. All the songs and dances where of course to Michael’s music.

Through out the entire party we had the music going and the video machine was on. Everyone visited and had a great time. We had trays of food and drinks, and no one went hungry.
Since MJJ Productions was kind enough to send us boxes of Michael merchandise to be won in contests and games, we also entered everyone’s name who attended the party into a draw and gave away some great prizes.

Finally, almost at the end of our party, we had the MJ birthday cake. We sang a rowdy version of "Happy Birthday" and then proceeded to eat the cake. And none of the cake was thrown on anyone :)

All and all we had a great party. And I’m looking forward to next years birthday bash!! Thanks Michael, for bringing us all together!! Without you, we probably would all be strangers instead of just good friends.
